BATAVIA, N.Y. (AP) — The Batavia Downs race track is set to debut an expanded gambling floor and three new restaurants.
The western New York facility says the changes being unveiled Friday constitute the first phase of an ongoing expansion.
Batavia Downs is the oldest nighttime harness track in the country. It's owned by Western Regional Off-Track Betting, a public-benefit corporation that puts profits back into the 15 counties and the cities of Buffalo and Rochester where it operates.
Former Buffalo Bills player Thurman Thomas is scheduled to attend Friday's opening of 34 Rush, a sports bar dedicated to the Hall of Famer. The other new restaurants are the Homestretch Grill and Fortuna's.
