WELLAND, O.N. (WIVB) - Four crew members were rescued after their boat rolled over and sank Monday morning in the Welland Canal. It all happened around 3 a.m. in Lock Number 4 in the Welland Canal, in Ontario.
Rescuers say that a small work boat with four people aboard rolled over, throwing them into the water. The boat then sank to the bottom.
Rescuers say that one crew member was under water for a considerable amount of time, and was taken to the hospital. The other three workers refused medical treatment.
Officials say the canal is going to be closed for awhile because they need to lift the boat out.
