TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Canal Fest has officially begun in the Tonawanda's.
The eight day event along the Erie Canal features entertainment for local residents and visitors throughout western New York.
The event that began in 1983, has since expanded from North Tonawanda to the city of Tonawanda. It promotes local businesses and provides a means of fundraising for non-profit community organizations.
Around 200,000 to 250,000 are expected to attend the annual event.
