BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo is remembering the Holocaust Wednesday, as it does every year at this time. At Buffalo City Hall, six candles were lit remembering the six million Jews slaughtered by the Nazis during World War II.
One of the candle lighters' parents were survivors. His mother made it through a concentration camp. Bernie Schenkler feels an obligation as a member of the second generation.
Schenkler said, "An obligation to make sure everybody is aware of this, and their children are aware of this, because as we are getting older the survivors are disappearing. Somebody has got to remember."
