RANDOLPH, N.Y. (WIVB) - A church community believes the power of prayer saved their house of worship.
Flames ripped through the parish hall at Grace Episcopal in Randolph late Sunday afternoon. The church pastor says he and his congregation gathered outside to pray as the firefighters were able to save the rest of the church.
"We had a large circle, petitioning the Lord that the sanctuary would be saved. And as we prayed the flames that were licking towards the church, stopped and went straight up. It was just incredible and an answer to prayer," the pastor said.
The sanctuary suffered some smoke damage, but was mostly spared. Investigators believe an electrical problem sparked that fire.
