BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some commuters headed to work or school Wednesday morning faced major backups on Route 33 West. The roadway was closed at Grider Street because of a rollover crash during rush hour, that sent two drivers to the hospital.
Buffalo Police say the crash happened at about 8:15 a.m. on Route 33 near East Ferry. At one point, there was congestion for more than two miles.
In the included photo, you can see a red SUV flipped over in the crash. Police say traffic was stopped and a vehicle could not stop in time and struck another vehicle, flipping over.
Police say drivers in both vehicles were taken to area hospitals. The driver in the vehicle that flipped over, a 24-year-old male, was treated and released from Erie County Medical Center.
There are no charges in the crash at this time, according to Buffalo Police.
