Canadians had been prompted to enter their zip codes in the past when charging gas purchases. However, the systems did not recognize Canadian postal codes, which contain letters as well as numbers. .
MasterCard has now fixed the problem by allowing them to enter three digits from their postal code and ignoring the letters. If a driver's postal code is A2B 3C4, for example, he would enter 23400.
