BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Flames and thick smoke began shooting out of the CSX building on Buffalo's east side Tuesday around 8:50 p.m. The company said there were no chemicals in the building.
Fire crews from Buffalo, Cheektowaga and Sloan all assisted in battling the blaze, at Reiman and North Ogden Streets.
Witnesses on the scene said flames shot high from the building around 9 p.m. About an hour later, it appeared the flames were under control.
Fire crews on the scene asked crowds of people to move from the area, so trucks could get in and out.
Emergency demolition of the building began after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
