GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - Grand Island residents are dealing with a serious health hazard. Whitehaven Road will be closed Tuesday, as crews work to replace a collapsed sewer line.
This will be welcome news to people who awoke to raw sewage spewing into their homes last week, after a short but powerful rainstorm.
Grand Island resident Lynne Wagner said, “The house is unlivable. The methane gas from the sewage. I am homeless, and so is my neighbor, we are homeless now. It is uninhabitable.”
Whitehaven Road will be closed Tuesday morning through Friday.
