STAFFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) - A 2-vehicle, head on crash in Genesee County leaves a teenager dead and a woman seriously injured.
New York State Police were called to NY Route 33 near Route 237 Saturday evening around 6:20 p.m.
According to investigators,17-year-old Collin Crane of Batavia was driving westbound on 33 when his car went over the center line, hitting an eastbound car head-on. Police say he swerved but could not avoid a crash and died at the scene.
Police say the driver of the eastbound car, 49-year-old Carmen Vega of LeRoy was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with a severe leg injury.
Route 33 near the scene was closed for over three hours during the investigation.
Exact cause of the accident and contributing circumstances are under continuing investigation.
