IRVING, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal crash that happened around 3 a.m. Saturday morning on the Seneca Nation of Indians territory.
30-year-old Jerrod T. Kennedy of Gowanda lost control of his vehicle while driving on Rt. 438. After striking a tree, the vehicle flipped over before coming to a rest onto the roadway.
Kennedy who was the operator of the vehicle died, while the passenger, 24-year-old Sheldon G Leroy of Versailles, NY was treated by Cattaraugus Indian Reservation firefighters at the scene.
Leroy was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight where he was treated and released.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
