LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A former Lockport Police Officer who was involved in a case that was recently reopened has passed away. Officer Stephen Biles died at his retirement home in Florida. A report cites natural causes.
In the summer of 1993, Deputy Jeffrey Incardona was rushing to the rescue of Biles, who had been shot three times. On his way to the scene, Incardona’s patrol car crashed into a utility pole and burst into flames, killing the father of three.
After that night Officer Biles, who survived the gunshot wounds, came under suspicious himself about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the case was reopened. The Buffalo News reports Biles was contacted last month, and said he was open to a new investigation about that night in 1993.
A graveside service for Biles is scheduled next Friday in Florida.
