BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo man has been convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl in the basement of his home on Berkshire Street, in March 2012. Twenty-year-old Rudell Jemes was found guilty of first-degree rape after a week-long jury trial, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Jemes was found guilty of raping a teen girl who was locked inside his basement. The DA's office says Jemes raped the victim, then grabbed her by the hair, pulled her up the stairs, hit her in the face and threw her out the front door.
The victim was taken to Women and Children's Hospital immediately. Genetic evidence linked Jemes to the case, and he laughed when questioned by detectives.
Jemes faces up to 25 years in state prison when sentenced in August.
