KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) - He's overcoming many challenges in the hopes of landing his ownTV show. News 4 got up close and personal with Kenmore native, ZachAnner.
Zach Anner is a funny man. He said he was born three pounds,seven ounces, with a microphone in his hand. He uses his wheelchair as a prop, and a vehicle, to strike your funny bone. And he'shoping Oprah will help him on his journey into show business.
In his YouTube video, Zach Anner said, "I have something calledCerebral Palsy, which I believe is the sexiest of the palsies."
Once he disarms you, Zach moves in for the kill on his onlineaudition to host a show on the new Oprah Winfrey Network. First, herules out shows he's not comfortable with, like cooking, or yoga,or making fashion statements.
His antics and quips on camera made him the hottest online votegetter with more than 9 million votes for the new show, somethinghe says was mind-blowing.
Zach said, "I just kept having to hit myself because things likethis do not happen, and it did!"
Never coddled or treated as fragile by his family, Zach'spassion now is to take viewers on the road with him.
"I've wanted to do a travel show for a long time, like, justthat really embraced the true spirit of travel, where everythinggoes completely wrong and you have to have fun anyway," describedZach.
It was Zach's mother who first learned about the Oprahauditions.
Susan Anner said, "Immediately I thought, "Zach, you've got todo this." Because that's what we've always thought about Zach, thathe could host his own show."
Zach hopes to "open the world up to people who never thoughtthey could travel before." But the underlying message goes evenfurther.
Zach explained, "No matter what you've got going on in yourlife, if you've got a positive attitude towards you life, then youcan overcome anything."
Zach made a pitch to online voters that he would crawl amarathon if he got a million votes.
Zach stated, "The 2011 Austin Marathon, I'm gong to crawl ituntil my heart stops, inevitably."
Zach lives in Texas now. He is home visiting family inWilliamsville. He will be heading to L.A. for the finalcompetition, hoping to become that one lucky winner who gets tohost his own show on the new Oprah Network.
