NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - A local family has spent one year without their daughter. The murder of little Isabella Tennant shocked western New York. Tuesday night loved ones gathered to honor her, and keep her memory alive.
Family friend Gina Streck said, "We have to remember her, we have to light candles, we have to let the community know that Bella will always live in our hearts and she did not pass away in vain."
A candlelight vigil was held to remember Bella, something people in attendance do every single day. Family friend Nina Manzare said, “There's not a day that goes by that my kids and I don't speak about her or talk about her.”
Those in attendance remembered Bella’s infectious personality. Manzare said, “Isabella touched everybody in the family, she just lit up the room, she lit up the room anywhere she was.”
Bella’s killer, 17-year-old John Freeman, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last month. His friend, Tyler Best, admitted to hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence when he helped Freeman dump her body. Freeman faces 20 years to life when he is sentenced in September.
