Many students we spoke with said they got a text alert from the university letting them know what happened and to be aware of their surroundings . At the beginning of the school year, university district leaders say students can be easy targets for criminals, just recently there were two violent attacks at Buffalo State. Right now many attending UB are on edge.
University District Common Council Member Bonnie Russell says she hopes more students will talk to their neighborhood block clubs to learn more about the area and how to protect themselves.
If you know anything about the attempted robbery call UB police 716-645-2227.
