ALBANY, NY (WIVB) - Unemployment figures are on the rise in New York State and in the Buffalo- Niagara Falls region.
The Labor Department released its March report Tuesday showing the jobless rate in the metro Buffalo area was 8.6 percent. That is up from 8.3 percent in March of 2011.
The jobless rate for New York State was 8.7 in March – that is higher than the 8.2 percent a year ago..
Rochester's unemployment rate was up slightly at 8 percent - up from 7.9 percent.
The NYS county with the highest unemployment rate was /Bronx County with a jobless rate of 13.6%
