TOWN OF MANSFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Town of Mansfield lost its highway garage and plow trucks in a fire in October 2012. The 4-hour fire took 100 people to put out and caused $1 million in damage.
Fast-forward one year and things are looking much better.
Saturday residents were able to see the replacement for the old garage, and the equipment that was brought in to ensure crews could move snow this winter.
"The highway superintendent at the time, the deputy and whatnot, stepped up and helped up locate some equipment, because we lost seven pieces of equipment in the fire. So we were able to get fully functional last year out of the other building, but we really needed to get this structure built," said Robert Keis, Mansfield Town Supervisor.
The steel building came in $200,000 under the budget estimate.
