BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - News 4 is saying goodbye to one of our own who rose from the ranks of intern to General Manager of WIVB-TV.
Chris Musial joined Channel 4 in 1978 as an intern to then-weekend anchor Rich Newberg. He rose through the ranks as News Producer, Executive Producer, News Director, and then General Manager of our station.
He earned his stripes the old fashioned way and worked with everyone you've seen on News 4 over the years.
In 1999, Chris and his family met Pope John Paul II in Poland, while Chris was producing an hour special on the Pope's life. As General Manager he helped take News 4 to the number one-rated station in Buffalo and one of the most powerful CBS affiliates in the country.
"I had terrific mentors, terrific co-workers, and fantastic friendships that have come from growing up and learning with all the people here," Musial said. "Keep up the good work. Keep fighting the good fight. It's all worthwhile."
"What makes this community what it is? It's the people. And I'm very lucky to say I'm a part of this community."
We all join in wishing Chris well!
