ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Orchard Park Police say they used a stun gun Friday morning while trying to take a man into custody.
Police responded to a call of a 31-year-old man who was intoxicated, and combative toward his parents. The man was at an address on Powers Road, where police say he was hiding under a blanket in his bedroom.
Police say the man became aggressive and hostile toward officers, and grabbed a police baton from an officer, attempting to disarm him. Police say during the struggle, an officer used a stun gun to incapacitate the the man. He was safely taken into custody.
The man was taken to Erie County Medical Center on a mental health detention, where he reported using methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana and alcohol during the night. The man was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and harassment.
One officer sustained a minor hand injury during the incident. He was treated and an area hospital and released.
Town of Evans Police are asking the public for information about an abandoned puppy that was found on the side of Holland Road.
