CUBA, N.Y. (AP) - The state has formally dedicated a Southern Tier bridge to a Marine from New York who was killed last year in Afghanistan.
The Department of Transportation unveiled signs marking the "Sergeant Mark Bradley Memorial Bridge" during a ceremony at the start of the Columbus Day weekend. The bridge carries Interstate 86 over state Route 305 in the Allegany County village of Cuba, 55 miles southeast of Buffalo .
Bradley was a 2003 graduate of Cuba-Rushford High School. He was 25 when he died June 15, 2011, nearly two weeks after stepping on an improvised explosive device in the Helmand Province.
Bradley's family was joined by several state lawmakers and officials during Friday's dedication.
