BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - Buffalo police say that on Friday night three suspects forcibly entered the priests' residence at Our Lady of Charity Church located on Ridgewood. At least one of the suspects was armed with a knife.
According to the Buffalo police press release the suspects forced the priest to open a safe and made off with money and other items. They then tied up the priest before fleeing. The priest was not injured.
A short time after the incident, South District police arrested Duane Dalton, 24, Michael Rodriguez, 31 and Daniel Bernardi, 21. All three reside at an address on Harvey Place.
South District Chief Thomas Moran says officers apprehended two of the individuals immediately after the incident on Hopkins Street and the third individual was apprehended about an hour later at his residence on Harvey Place.
Bishop Malone released a statement today,
"I give thanks to God that Msgr. Lee was uninjured and I am grateful to the Buffalo Police officers of the South District who made quick work in apprehending the suspects. We will keep Msgr. Lee and the parishioners of Our Lady of Charity in our prayers."
