BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - You have a chance to weigh in on the proposed Erie County budget Wednesday night. County Executive Mark Poloncarz is holding a town hall meeting, a day after he released the budget.
The meeting is Wednesday night, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Avenue Library downtown. Here's some highlights from the budget proposal:
- Property tax rates hold steady.
- Overall spending would increase by just over one percent, with libraries, arts and cultural groups seeing more funding.
- $40 million would go to county infrastructure. $100 million would be pumped into jail management and correctional health.
- No vacant county positions will be filled.
There is another Lake Effect Snow Warning in effect for Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties from Thursday through early Friday.
Lake Effect Snow Warnings return today with the chance for an additional foot for some areas.
