PORTLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - The westbound lanes of the I-90 were closed in Chautauqua County late Wednesday night after a semi hauling propane tanks crashed and rolled down an embankment in the Town of Portland.
State Police say Richard Kingsley of Silver Creek veered to his right while entering a construction zone and his semi left the roadway. The vehicle rolled and the 57-year-old driver was injured. Starflight flew him to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.
While crews worked to clean up the mess, the westbound lanes of the Thruway were closed. No propane leakage occurred, and after around two and a half hours, the Thruway was re-opened.
Kingsley is currently listed in fair condition.
