BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WIVB) - A serious accident involving two WNY men shut down Rt. 590 near the I-490 in the Town of Brighton on Monday.
Around 1 p.m., State Police say a tanker truck carrying liquid food waste was driving westbound on the I-490 to the Rt. 590 Northbound exit ramp when for unknown reasons, the driver lost control and rolled over the concrete barrier onto Rt. 590 Northbound, colliding with a box truck driven by 40-year-old Shawn Wetmore of Batavia, who was killed in the accident.
The driver of the tanker truck, 25-year-old Daniel Baker of Wyoming, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Police say he was ejected from his truck and suffered a dislocated hip. He's currently listed in satisfactory condition.
Rt. 590 remains closed as State Police investigate the accident and clean up the scene.
