BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - He hasn't been home in years, now a Buffalo soldier is spendingIndependence Day with loved ones for a very special reason.
He's used to wearing fatigues everyday, but now, Staff SergeantTerrance Wiggins is dressed in his Sunday best as he celebrates thebaptism of his great-niece on this 4th of July. Sgt. Wiggins is inthe Army, serving in Iraq. Before that he was in the Navy. Sgt.Wiggins has always wanted a military career.
Wiggins said, "I wanted to go to Iraq."
And he'll go back in less than two weeks, but for now, he's justfocused on spending time with his family.
"Just hang out with the family and see some faces I haven't seenin a long time, and just kinda relax and enjoy it all," saidWiggins.
And on this day, he takes on an important role in this babygirl's life. Wiggins is Zeniyah's godfather, another title he takesseriously.
Wiggins beamed, "I'm pretty proud of it."
Christina Price is little Zeniyah's mother and Wiggins's niece.She's proud of what her uncle is doing for our country.
Price said, "He's definitely a role model for everybody."
