AZUSA, Calif. (AP) — Hundreds of firefighters are attacking a 50-acre wildfire burning at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains near Los Angeles.
The blaze erupted Monday evening and is burning mostly in the Angeles National Forest, away from populated areas. It was 5 percent contained just before midnight.
Officials with the U.S. Forest Service are telling residents of three foothill homes closest to the blaze to evacuate. They say those homes in Azusa could be threatened if winds change direction and push the fire to the south.
Some 20 homes are close to the fire.
