WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI is preparing to give an update on its investigation into a deadly shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.
Officials are also expected to release surveillance images of the gunman, Aaron Alexis, following a Wednesday afternoon briefing in Washington.
Alexis, a 34-year-old former Navy reservist and IT contractor, shot and killed 12 people inside a Navy Yard building last week before being killed in a shootout with police.
Authorities haven't revealed a motive, though Alexis had been struggling with psychological problems. He sought treatment for insomnia in the weeks before the shooting.
Besides the FBI, representatives from other local and federal agencies are expected to attend a news conference at the FBI's Washington field office.
