The Taliban is claiming responsibility for the Monday morning strike. NATO confirms there was "a series of explosions" in the area but says none of its personnel were killed.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Members of Congress aren't able to agree on whether to give President Barack Obama the go-ahead to take military action against the Syrian regime that the White House says carried out a poison gas attack on Syrian civilians last month. Dozens of lawmakers attended a classified briefing Sunday, but many emerged saying they need more details about the alleged chemical weapons attack. Secretary of State John Kerry says evidence taken from victims shows deadly sarin gas was used.
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) — Officials say the huge wildfire burning in and around Yosemite National Park is still growing, but it is 45 percent contained. Fire officials say moister air is slowing flames from advancing and firefighters have room to set backfires and dig and strengthen containment lines. The fire is 351 square miles — the fourth largest wildfire in in California since 1932.
NEW YORK (AP) — Police in New York have not made any arrests in the shooting death of a 1-year-old boy. Police say Antiq (an-TEEK') Hennis was being pushed in a stroller by his parents Sunday night in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn when shots were fired and the child was struck in the head. A local bishop who drove the parents to the hospital says, "I grew up in this neighborhood and I've seen a lot — but this is the worst."
TELLURIDE, Colo. (AP) — Officials in Colorado say a plane's landing gear collapsed as it arrived at the Telluride Regional Airport in Colorado Sunday and skidded to a stop. No injuries have been reported. There were 12 people on board, including members of a team behind an upcoming book and documentary about famed author J.D. Salinger.
