A cold front stretching from the lower Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes will push wet weather into the eastern third of the country on Sunday, while high pressure is expected to build off of the Pacific Northwest Coast.
Washington, Oregon,and California will avoid precipitation on Sunday, although temperatures will stay relatively cool along the West Coast. Deserts in the Southwest will continue to experience temperatures below 90 degrees, while mountains across the Western third of the country will experience low temperatures in the 20s and 30s.
Just to the east, a cold frontal boundary is expected to trek across the Great Basin, which will produce rainy weather in several states and high elevation snow in the Rockies. A separate cold front will move across the lower Mississippi Valley, Ohio valley, and Great Lakes on Sunday, which will trigger showers and thunderstorms over Texas and Oklahoma. Rainy weather will also precede the front, as the eastern Ohio Valley and parts of the Northeast will experience wet conditions. The coast of New England will remain clear of rain, and a ridge of high pressure over Iowa will keep most of the upper Midwest dry on Sunday.
Low pressure will continue to linger along the coast of the Carolinas, as showers will be possible from Florida to Virginia.
