WASHINGTON (AP) — A hearing to help determine whether three U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen will face a court-martial over sexual assault charges could be nearing an end.
Navy investigators are set to testify Tuesday, and defense attorneys then hope to wrap up later in the day after commenting on the evidence.
The hearing involving three former Navy football players began last Tuesday. The alleged victim is an academy senior. She has testified she was drinking heavily at an April 2012 party in Annapolis, Md., and has no direct memory of the alleged incidents.
After the hearing, the presiding investigative officer will review evidence and make a recommendation to the academy's superintendent. Such reviews generally take days or weeks to complete.
