HOPEWELL, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 62-year-old man has died from injuries suffered in a fiery one-car crash on a western New York road.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office tells local media outlets that Thomas Devine of Canandaigua was traveling on Routes 5 and 20 early Monday morning when his vehicle left the road, went down an embankment, hit some trees and burst into flames in the town of Hopewell, 30 miles southeast of Rochester.
Deputies who arrived on the scene extinguished the fire.
Devine was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he died Monday night.
Deputies say high speed may have been a factor in the crash.
