BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Carl Paladino is a step closer to getting a new line on theballot in his run for governor of New York.
The Buffalo businessman handed in a petition with 28,000signatures on Tuesday, that's nearly double the number required bythe board of elections to get a line on the ballot. The new partyis called the "Taxpayers Party" and Paladino thinks it's on it'sway to becoming the state's main third political party.
"We are still receiving petitions at a rate in excess of athousand per day from all around the state, and we will followthose petitions on or before the last day," said Paladino.
Independent parties can be formed if you have 15,000 signaturesfrom registered voters of any political party with at least 100 ofthem coming from at least half of the state's congressionaldistricts.
