NIAGARA, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Fashion Outlets of Niagara is bursting at the seams and is looking for space to grow.
Sabre Park is next door. Mobile home owners are fleeing in droves and the park's owner is in foreclosure. Despite the discouraging developments, owner Lori Dixon is actually fixing her place up.
Rumors are the California-based owner of the Fashion Outlets is first in line to buy Sabre Park and News 4 has learned a limited liability company has been formed to make the purchase. It's called FON Adjacent, LLC - the same initials as Fashion Outlets of Niagara, which are adjacent to the mobile home park. But the company is registered to Niagara County and based in Delaware. The deal might have a long way to go.
The same day homeowners got a written notice, telling them to sign a new one year lease, the office was torched, and authorities are now offering a $5,000 reward to catch the arsonist. Lori Dixon is planning to move on, but she can't take her mobile home with her.
"I am hoping I can stay here another year, but I don't know if that is going to happen," Dixon said. "I feel better doing it for myself, but we try to do it as cheaply as possible."
Clifford Geist is moving on, too, but he is taking his mobile home of 36 years with him in spite of the staggering cost.
Peggy Geist, his daughter, said, "They have a crew that comes in and takes the awning down, and the central air apart."
So what about that one year lease?
Clifford Geist said, "I threw it right in the garbage. What am I going to do with it?"
