LYONS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 20-year-old upstate New York man has died from injuries suffered when he fell from a moving vehicle as he tried to climb onto its roof.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office tells the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester that Thaddus Johnson of Lyons was a passenger in a car traveling in his hometown around 2:45 a.m. Saturday when he opened the car door.
Deputies say he told the 23-year-old woman driving the car that he was going "ghost surfing."
Police say she was trying to slow down when Johnson fell to the pavement, suffering a severe head injury.
Johnson died at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
It wasn't immediately clear how fast the car was traveling when Johnson exited.
The investigation is continuing.
