NIAGARA FALLS, ONT. (WIVB) - Authorities in Niagara Falls, Ontario are cautioning those who appear to be planning a dangerous stunt.
Niagara Falls Park Police say they received information about one, possibly two kayakers planning to go over the Canadian side of Horseshoe Falls. Officers contacted one of the kayakers, who confirmed the stunt is in its planning stages.
Authorities say any stunt or feat attempted without the written permission of the Niagara Parks Commission is subject to a $10,000 fine and possible criminal prosecution should an involved person suffer serious bodily harm or death.
Officials add that a stunt like this could pose great risk to responding emergency personnel.
Many people have gone over the Falls, but only a handful have gone over the edge without protection and lived to tell the tale.
