PALM BEACH, Fla. (CNN) - A panther, rescued with his sister as a kitten, has taken his first steps toward freedom.
Biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation released him back into the wild Wednesday.
The big cat was set free near the borders of Palm Beach. Scientists say they chose the spot because it can provide an area for the panther to acclimate back into the wild.
The animal and his sister were found after the death of their mother. Scientists raised the siblings until they were 2 years old.
His sister was released in February and is doing well, they say.
