LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Democrat Gary Peters says he raised slightly more than $1 million in the last three months of his U.S. Senate campaign and has nearly $2.5 million in the bank.
The suburban Detroit congressman is waiting to release full details of his report due Monday. But his campaign said Friday most of the money came from Michigan donors and includes no personal financing from Peters.
Republican Terri Lynn Land has reported raising just over $2 million, half of it her own money. Peters got in the race sooner and raised $1 million in the second quarter as well.
Campaign manager Julie Petrick says Peters is building a strong grassroots campaign and his "incredible support and momentum ... only continues to grow."
Democratic Sen. Carl Levin is retiring next year.
