GERRY, N.Y. (WIVB) - An 84-year-old southern tier woman is dead after being struck in the roadway on Monday.
State Police have not released the name of the resident of Gerry, who was struck and killed on Harris Hill Road while returning from the paper box around 8 a.m.
Troopers say the woman was hit by Jamie Carder, 34, of Falconer. Carder apparently saw the woman when she crested the hill, and though she took evasive action, was unable to aviod hitting the elderly woman.
The woman was taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Carter is not facing any charges. She was issued no traffic tickets in regards to the accident.
