BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - An 11 year old brought a semi-automatic handgun to Campus WestSchool, according to authorities. News 4 Senior Correspondent RichNewberg has learned that a classmate saw the gun, a Cobra .380caliber semi automatic handgun, on the school bus this morning, andwent directly to school authorities.
The principal, Nora Trincanati, called the New York StateUniversity Police, the school is on the Buffalo State Campus, andthe gun was found in the child's backpack in his locker.
Authorities say six rounds of ammunition were found on the childin his pants pocket.
The student had only been in school less than two minutes.
New York State University Police responded with seven officers,including two investigators.
The student was petitioned to Family court.
Officials are investigating how the child obtained the gun andwhy he brought it to school.
