BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - - There are new details into the death ofCrystallynn Girard.
Her mother Lynn Dejac has been exonerated after serving morethan a decade in prison for the first time we are hearing the 9-1-1call made the day Crystallyn was found dead.
News 4 has obtained a copy of the 1993 Valentine's Day, 9-1-1call. The call was made by Lynn Dejac's former boyfriend,Keith Cramer. You can hear Lynn Dejac's cries in thebackground.
Keith Cramer, "I need, I need an ambulance, a cop car at195 babcock."
Dispatcher, 911, "What happened?"
Dejac had returned home after breaking up with her boyfriendDennis Donohue. Cramer tries to describe what happened.
Keith Cramer, "There's,there's, there's been, I don't knowif it's a murder or something. A 13 year-old girl is dead."
13 Crystallyn Girard was that 13 year-old. This is what policesaw when they entered Dejac's home.
Dispatcher, "Was she shot or what happened?"
Keith Cramer, "I don't know. I was just called. The mothercalled me."
Then something many might consider strange. Listen as Cramerdescribes Crystallynn's condition and states Dejac's innocence.
Keith Cramer, "She's got bruises all over her. I don't knowwhat's up. I know the mother had nothing to do with it. She's inhysterics."
Back in 1993, the medical examiner ruled the teen's death wascaused by manual strangulation. Dejac served 13 years in prison forher daughter's death. Her conviction was overturned and the chargesdropped this year based on DNA evidence.
New findings point to a cocaine overdose as the cause of death, something Dejac disputes. Now Dejac is suing the state for wrongfulimprisonment.
Lynn Dejac, Crystallyn's mother, "I want to be heard. I want thepublic to know the truth. That's all I want. I just want themto know the truth."
Remember new findings lead experts to believe Girard died from acocaine overdose. However, Dejac claims her daughter was murderedby Dennis Donaghue. The Erie County District Attorney's officeconsiders this case closed.
