AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - University of Michigan basketball coach John Beilein returned to Western New York Thursday night to be inducted into the DeSales High School Hall of Fame.
Beilein has racked up more than 650 wins as a college basketball coach, but his first coaching job came at Newfane High School - against his alma mater. Beilein lost that game, but did not lose many last year at Michigan, leading the Wolverines to a national runner-up finish.
His career has brought him back to WNY several times, with tonight's honor being the latest.
"To coach at Erie Community College, come back and coach at Canisius. I've had a few full circles, this is another one," said Beilein.
