ORCHARD PARK, NY (WIVB) - Reggie Torbor has won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants. He's had success with the Miami Dolphins. Monday, he tried to get the Bills headed in that direction by calling a player-only meeting. Buffalo is off to an 0-5 start and heading into their bye week. Torbor says the timing was right to get the players thinking about what they need to do better.
The idea came to the veteran linebacker Monday morning. He remembers past situations when veteran stars Michael Strahan and Jason Taylor did the same thing. When Torbor realized that he's one of the Bills most experienced players and the only one with a championship, he knew the job belonged to him.
Torbor did not want to provide details about what was said, but other players did. Terrence McGee said the meeting was intended to get players focused more on their jobs. McGee said too many players leave when the work day is done instead of putting in extra time studying game tape or reviewing plays.
"If practice is over at four o'clock, let's not leave at four o'clock, lets stay until five o'clock," said McGee.
Torbor says he has been concerned about what he's seen the past few months, along with the first five games.
"The time was right today."
