ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - An unexpected move after weeks of speculation around One BillsDrive. And one that has the Bills, current and former, talking.
The current plays were certainly as anxious to find out aboutwho their next head coach was going to be. In their case, it's alsotheir direct boss. So, they were anxious to find out about that andso far, the players feel good about Chan Gailey.
They have done some of their homework. The ones that News 4spoke to talked to some of players around the league, guys theyknow and friends of theirs, and they are getting very good reviews.And the current Bills players especially like Gailey's experience.His 17 years in the NFL.
Bills linebacker Jon Corto said, "It's really important because,you know, obviously the more experience your head guy has the moreexperience and knowledge he's going to pass on to us as players.That's very encouraging. The guy's probably a wealth of knowledgeas far as offensively and defensively. He's been around the blockand you can learn a lot from a guy like that."
"It is exciting. I'm looking forward to working with him. I knowhim and Buddy Nix have had a past together being successful and hisoffense has always been successful. Even speaking with some peopleI've known who've played for him had good things to say. So, I'mexcited, " said Bills wide receiver Lee Evans.
Lee Evans, in particular, excited he's going to have anoffensive minded head coach and in this case, Chan Gailey will actas his own offensive coordinator. So, there will now be that directlink between offensive players like Evans and the head coachbecause he's going to be the one coaching them on the offensiveside of the ball.
News 4 also talked to some former Bills players who as much asthe current ones want to see things turn around and get back to thesuccess of the past.
