ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly is now recovering at home. The included photo, courtesy of 97 Rock, shows Kelly with DJ Jickster. Kelly underwent surgery at ECMC last week, for cancer in his jaw.
Kelly had a follow up doctor's appointment Wednesday. His wife, Jill, spoke on WGR 550 Wednesday morning and said they are holding fast to the power of prayer as they continue down the road to recovery.
On WGR, Jill Kelly said, "He's doing okay. He can't, this is hard, this is hard for him. He's trying to get accustomed to what has taken place. And then, not only that, there's a lot of changes that need to happen, results that we're still waiting on. If you understand anything about cancer, you know it's a long road. It's not a momentary thing. Definitely a road that you travel down. We're very hopeful and Jim is incredibly tough, he was a very good patient in the hospital."
Jill Kelly spoke on the same day as a fundraiser auction for "Hunter's Hope," the charity named in memory of their son.
