ORCHARD PARK, NY (WIVB) - NFL sources tell News 4 that Arizona assistant Curtis Modkins islikely to become the Bills new offensive coordinator. Thenews was first reported by a Phoenix radio station.
Modkins has long ties to Gailey, which explains why the hiremakes sense. He was Gailey's running backs coach at GeorgiaTech from 2002-2007. Modkins then joined Gailey in KansasCity in 2008. Gailey was the offensive coordinator, Modkinsthe running backs coach.
Last season, Modkins moved from the Chiefs to the Cardinals inthe same position.
With the Bills, Modkins will have the title of offensivecoordinator, but Gailey has already said he'll call the offensiveplays.
Modkins is a former TCU running back who has also coached at TCUand New Mexico. He is 39 years old.
The hiring has not yet been confirmed by the Bills. Noneof Gailey's assistant coaching hires have been announced. News 4has learned that Gailey will spend the next week assembling hisstaff, instead of joining Bills scouts at the Senior Bowl inAlabama.
