ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - While there are clear differences between the Bills and Jets on the defensive side of the ball, some of the ideas are similar enough that it could give rookie QB EJ Manuel an edge this Sunday.
Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine served in the same capacity with New York last year, and while the schemes are different, some of the basic principles are similar.
After practicing against Buffalo's multiple-look, multiple-front defense all summer, Manuel says he can take some of what he learned and put it into action this Sunday.
"I think it’s a huge benefit," said Manuel. "Seeing a lot of those multiple looks and guys lining up and walking around before the snap whether it was in OTA’s or training camps, I think it’s really going to help me out personally. I think I can ID that pretty fast and still be able to call the play and still have a high tempo."
