ORCHARD PARK, NY (WIVB) - Just another wild, high scoring, hang onto your seats Bills game. The Bills held on with help from a late offsides penalty to beat the Eagles 31-24. Buffalo improves to 4-1.
The Bills forced 4 turnovers, 4 interceptions and a fumble. But unable to stop the Eagles in the second half, the victory was clinched when the Eagles jumped offsides on a 4th down and inches play that the Bills were not likely to try. That offsides call on Philadelphia's Juqua Parker gave the Bills the first down that clinched the win. Otherwise, the Bills would have had to punt the ball and give Michael Vick a chance to tie.
Vick had a big day, throwing for 315 yards and running for 90. But he threw four interceptions, three in the first half when the Bills built a 21-7 lead.
The lead was jumped to 28-7, but the Eagles then scored two touchdowns to cut the lead to seven.
Another crucial fourth quarter play was Drayton Florence knocking the ball lose from Jason Avant and right to Nick Barnett, who grabbed his second interception of the game. Barnett returned his first interception 31 yards for a touchdown. It's the first time since 1960 that the Bills have had interception returns for touchdowns in three straight games.
George Wilson had one interception, and 11 tackles in his best game. Reggie Corner also had an interception.
