ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - It doesn't come as any surprise, as it almost happened last year. But Monday, the Bills released former first round draft pick Aaron Maybin. He played two seasons with the Bills after being picked 11th overall in the 2009 draft.
In those two seasons, Maybin started only 1 game, and had no career sacks. He was even inactive for five games in 2010.
Late Monday, while appearing on the FAN590 in Toronto, General Manager Buddy Nix said "he was just a little light for what we wanted to do-in weight and strength."
Maybin was listed as 228 pounds on the training camp roster, and almost looked lighter that that. During one play against the Bears on Saturday, Maybin was rushing the passer and was thrown to the ground by Bears running back Marion Barber.
He now ranks as one of the worst first round picks in team history, joining Tom Cousineau, Perry Tuttle, Erik Flowers and Mike Williams.
