ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Bills' young depth is already dwindling, with both cornerback Ron Brooks and receiver Marquise Goodwin out indefinitely.
Brooks suffered a foot fracture in Sunday's loss to the Patriots - the same foot he injured last season. He is scheduled for surgery Tuesday.
Goodwin, the team's third-round draft pick, fractured his hand and underwent surgery today.
Neither injury is expected to be season-ending, and Head Coach Doug Marrone said he has not made a decision whether one of the two players will be placed on Injured Reserve with a designation to return. NFL teams can use that designation once per season. Brooks was that player last year.
"Going in to this thing I don’t see it as long-term IR, I see them being out for a while and then coming back," said Marrone. "Whether we want to use the short term IR thing, I think that will be a discussion we have later this afternoon."
The Brooks injury leaves the team very thin at cornerback. Undrafted rookie Nickell Robey filled in admirably for Brooks and nickel back Sunday, but with Stephon Gilmore still recovering from a broken wrist, the team now has only four healthy cornerbacks on the roster.
